SMHC National Conference

November 3-4, 2009
SMHC

The Capital Hilton, Washington, DC

Offered by SMHC-CPRE, UW-Madison

The Strategic Management of Human Capital in Education project (SMHC) at the University of Wisconsin-Madison is offering a national conference for teams of education leaders from urban school districts across the country.   The call to action by President Obama and Secretary of Education Duncan to provide Race to the Top funding has put the focus on raising student achievement and the use of aligning student test scores with teaching strategies.

Keynote presenters and panel presentations will focus on leading edge, comprehensive approaches to talent and human capital management practices currently in progress in places throughout the country and performance management strategies and tools used in districts and organizations.

The goal of SMHC is to dramatically improve student performance by restructuring HR systems; to recruit top teacher, principal and central office talent; and performance-manage those individuals so the most effective instruction is deployed in all classrooms – focusing first on the country’s largest 100 districts, most of which are urban.
